Tire Track Eel
These gentle creatures are great inhabitants of large fish aquariums. They require live and frozen food, and will hunt smaller fish and crustaceans. Tire track eels get to almost 20 inches and like to bury themselves in substrate with just their head showing during daylight hours. The name “Tire track” is from the black pattern on the body.
Most eels are actually species of the spiny eel fish family – so technically these eels are really just long fish. But they sure look, feel, and act like eels.
